[origin: EP1111130A1] The rail mounting for a railway has a bed (14) with a raised section (28) on the side of each rail (18) opposite the wheel flanges (22). A ribbed plate is placed to form a receiving trough for the rail foot of each rail and engages against the raised section of the bed. A base plate is placed between each ribbed plate and the bed. The base plate, ribbed plate and bed are formed of materials that provide a friction lock to prevent inward movement of the rail assembly away from the raised bedding section.
