[origin: US2001004441A1] A pump for conveying a liquid has a housing and a shaft rotatably supported in the housing. An eccentric drive is arranged in the housing. At least one drive element is provided and is configured to be driven by the eccentric drive. The shaft is configured to adjust the eccentricity of the eccentric drive. The drive element is configured to be adjusted according to the eccentricity of the eccentric drive by a translatory movement in a direction transverse to the shaft.

Solche Pumpen fördern kontinuierlich Kraftstoff aus einem Tank in einen Speicher. Nur ein Teil des Kraftstoffes wird für den Verbrennungsvorgang benötigt, während der andere Teil ständig rückgeführt wird. Dadurch ist der Wirkungsgrad der Pumpe gering. Zudem entsteht eine starke Wärmeentwicklung. Um einen guten Wirkungsgrad zu erzielen, ist mit der Pumpenwelle (2) die Exzentrizität eines Exenterantriebes (8, 11) einstellbar. Mit ihm wird ein Antriebselement (13) angetrieben, das entsprechend der eingestellten Exzentrizität translatorisch in einer quer zur Welle (2) liegenden Ebene verstellbar ist. Je nach Exzentrizität wird der Hub von Kolben (14) eingestellt, um eine angepaßte Kraftstoffmenge in den Verbrennungsraum zu fördern. Die Pumpe wird bevorzugt für Common-Rail-Systeme eingesetzt, wie sie in Kraftfahrzeugen zum Fördern von Kraftstoff insbesondere von Diesel verwendet werden. <IMAGE>
