Abstract (en)
[origin: WO0015286A1] A magnetically navigable catheter (20) includes a sheath (30), and an extension member (38); each having a proximal end and a distal end, such that the distal end portion (42) of the extension member (38) telescopes from the distal end (66) of the sheath (30). The distal end portion (42) of the extension member (38) being relatively more flexible than the distal end (66) of the sheath (30). There may be one or more electrodes on the distal end of the extension member (38). There is also at least one magnet, and preferably more than one magnet on the distal end portion (42) of the extension member (38) to allow the distal end (42) of the extension member (38) to allow the distal end (42) of the extension member (38) to be oriented by the application of an externally applied magnetic field.
