A combustion chamber (26) has multiple combustion chamber electrodes fitted in sequence in an axial direction regarding a combustion chamber axis (16). Each single combustion chamber electrode can be fed individually with current. On the lower end of a casing wall (14) there is a casing base (18) with a cylindrical opening (20) around the axis. A casing cover (22) connects to the casing on the other end of the casing.

Um einen Plasmabrenner mit einer Brennkammer, in welcher zwischen einer Elektrode und einer Gegenelektrode ein Lichtbogen erzeugbar ist und dem ein Arbeitsgas zur Plasmabildung zuführbar ist, zu schaffen, welcher variabel einsetzbar ist, wird vorgeschlagen, daß die Brennkammer eine Mehrzahl von Brennkammer-Elektroden umfaßt, welche in axialer Richtung bezüglich einer Brennkammerachse aufeinanderfolgend angeordnet sind, wobei jede einzelne Brennkammer-Elektrode individuell strombeaufschlagbar ist. <IMAGE>
