Abstract (en)

[origin: DE19933424A1] The invention relates to stowage pieces (10) which serve to prevent the horizontal displacement of containers placed on board ships. The inventive stowage pieces (10) dispose of an abutment (15) that comprises stowage cones (16, 17) which are situated on opposite sides and which engage inside upper and lower corner fittings (12, 13) of stacked containers. These stowage pieces (10) must be placed on upper corner fittings (13) of the container already stowed on board the ship before a next container is stowed. This requires the use of auxiliary staff on the containers stowed on board the ship which no longer adheres to new safety regulations. The inventive stowage piece (10) comprises, on the upper stowage cone (16) thereof, a rotatable transversal detent (21) via which the stowage piece (10) can be locked, while on the pier, under lower corner fittings (12) of a container before this container is placed on board the ship. As a result, the use of auxiliary staff on the containers located on board the ship is made redundant.
