[origin: DE19845779A1] The switchgear includes a protective switching device containing a bidirectionally controllable thyristor circuit (TR) with a series-connected protective resistor (RV). The thyristor circuit is controllable by a shunt breaker (AL) which fuses when the holding current is exceeded. A series-connected control device (LR) interrupts the current after a charging capacitor in the protection device has charged. A bridge rectifier (BG) is bridged on the DC side by a high voltage capacitor (CH).
