[origin: WO0020123A1] The invention relates to a device for applying a flowable medium (2, 2') from a storage chamber (7, 8) onto a surface (6) that is moved along the device, and to the use of said device. The storage chamber (7,8) partially covers the surface (6), whereby a sealing gap (14) and an outlet gap (18) are formed. The storage chamber (7, 8) is sub-divided into a pre-storage chamber (7) and a main storage chamber (8) in order to prevent air bubbles from being formed in said medium (2, 2'). A separating element (10) is arranged between the chambers. Said separating element defines a separating gap (15) with the surface (6). Various forms of separating elements are provided. The device is particularly suitable for applying a polymer dispersion to the surface (6). The invention also relates to a method for operating one such device.
