[origin: DE19845799A1] The invention relates to an electric circuit breaker (1) which comprises an electronic overcurrent release (4) for processing a signal emitted by a current sensor (6). A flexible connecting lead (5) is provided to connect the current sensor (6) to the overcurrent release (4). A first component (10) of a two-part plug-and-socket device is provided at the end of said connecting lead, the second component (11) belonging to the overcurrent release (4). In the first component (10), resistors (12, 13, 14, 15, 16) are arranged between contact pins (17) in order to encode individual characteristic values or combinations of such characteristic values, such as rated current or class of breaking capacity.
