[origin: EP1118730A1] The spacer (1) for laying a layer of reinforcement iron against the shuttering comprises a profiled rail with two pairs of contact bearing arms (2,5) connected by a web (8) for supporting the rail on the shuttering. The reinforcement irons (21,22,23,24) can be of different diameters and are fixed at regular intervals by clamp fixing means formed by recesses (10, 11) along the rail. The profiled rail has bores or openings for passing through the fixing means to fix the rail against the shuttering. The rail is preferably of H-section.
