[origin: WO0111232A1] The invention concerns a starter (10) comprising an output shaft (12) driven in rotation by an electric motor (16) wherein the output shaft (12) includes at least a truncated roller (82) designed to co-operate with a matching truncated bearing (110) of a starter wheel (68), wherein the truncated roller (82) is screwed on a threading (78) borne by the output shaft (12) to be axially displaced towards the starting wheel (68), when the output shaft (12) rotates relative to the truncated roller (82) in a first rotational direction. The invention is characterised in that it comprises a braking device (102) which, when the electric motor (16) starts, brakes the truncated roller (82) rotation so as to cause the truncated roller (82) to move axially until it comes in contact with the starting wheel (68).
