Abstract (en)

[origin: WO0021846A1] The invention relates to a sheet metal top for beverage cans which, in a closed state, are under an increased pressure compared to the surrounding pressure. The inventive top comprises an essentially flat surface (3, 10, 20, 30), and an area (4; 11; 33; 22) which is defined by a line of indentation (8; 11; 21; 31). Said area is situated in the surface of the top, can rupture and is smaller than the essentially flat surface. The inventive top also has a grip tab (6; 14) which serves to open the small area and which is placed on the surface of the top. In a longitudinally delimited area (24, 25, L) situated down from a starting section (S) of the line of indentation (21; 31), the metallic structure (38) or the structure lines (38x, 38y) of the sheet metal are considerably thicker under the line of indentation than a metallic structure (19) situated under at least the adjacent line of indentation (21; 31). It is thus possible to temporarily stop an opening process which is difficult to control after initial rupturing of the line of indentation (21; 31).
