[origin: DE19847331A1] Seat covers knitted on a flat bed knitting machine are provided with hook and loop attachment sections which are knitted integrally with the seat cover. The hooks are produced by cutting loops with the knitting needles after or during casting off. Independent claims are also included for other means of producing an integral attaching arrangement during knitting the cover. These are (a) incorporating threads that will melt and act as melt adhesive, (b) supplying a fastener tape (12) in continuous lengths from a reel (14) and knitting it into the fabric or attaching it with adhesive, (c) incorporating pre-formed fasteners during knitting, (d) knitting fasteners on another part of the knitting machine bed and joining the fastener and cover together.
