[origin: EP1122508A2] A shot identification system for a multi position shooting range links the shot data with target shot data i.e. it detects if the correct target is hit, or if a shot strays onto an adjacent target. Each shooting position is fitted with an IR detector to register the release of a shot by detecting the emission of muzzle gasses. By taking into account the flight time of the projectile the actual impacts on the targets can be linked to the firing positions using simple discriminating circuits.
