[origin: DE19850285A1] The invention relates to a method and a device for sorting fluorescent lamps according to their luminescent mixtures which lamps have a cylindrical lamp body (1) with a right and a left end and with a symbol imprinted thereon. The fluorescent lamps are fed to an inspection station (10) which comprises stop devices (11, 12) defining an inspection surface (13) which the respective lamp body (1) to be examined contacts. A camera (21) with an image processing system (30) linked thereto is positioned in the direction of the symbol imprint of the respective lamp body (1) to be examined. A turning device (15, 16) in the inspection station (10) is used to turn the respective lamp body (1) to be examined. The camera (21) transmits pixel signals to the image processing system (30) which recovers image data from the pixel data. The image processing system (30) contains image memories with data for recorded symbols and an image comparative device which correlates the image data with the recorded symbol data. The respective fluorescent tube is withdrawn from the inspection station (10) and directed to one of several sorting paths via a distribution system (25).
