[origin: DE10007151A1] The cylinder head (1) has a coolant chamber (6) between a cylinder head base (3) and a cover wall (4). The cover wall has a recess (11) between diametrically opposite helical columns (7) and neighboring shaft tubes (9). The recess is in connection with the cylinder head base via a cross wall (10) between the columns. Wall sections of the recess, which rise in direction from the cross wall to the cover wall, are formed to act as flow guide faces.
