Abstract (en)
[origin: WO0026132A1] The present invention relates to a windlass/hoist, suitably to be used in small crafts on sea and land, e.g. sailing boats and the like, which comprises four main components, i.e. a drum unit with a rotatable drum cylinder, designed to support a band, rope, wire, cable or the like, which can be wound on the drum cylinder; a motor unit; a gear unit with a plurality of gearing steps; as well as a coupling unit with a disconnection element and a reversible driving, said motor unit (4) and coupling unit (6) being disposed in the interior of the drum cylinder (21) and said gear unit outside the framing of the windlass. The coupling unit includes a disconnection element, a spring-loaded coupling ring (25) having axial heads (43, 44, 45, 46) and spaces between said heads for periferally and axially mounted pins (39, 40, 41, 42) on an outer drum support (23), which carries the drum cylinder (4), the coupling ring (25) as well as a coupling cog wheel (22), said pins (39, 40, 41, 42) being designed to mesh between the heads (43, 44, 45, 46) the coupling ring (25) in order to drive the drum cylinder (4) in two optional directions, and between the lower bottom surface (47, 48) of said heads (43, 44, 45, 46) the coupling ring (25) being designed with guide surfaces (49), designed to guide the pins (39, 40, 41, 42) into e.g. a disconnection position (50).
