[origin: EP1127644A2] The tool has a gear (16,18) on a drive shaft (12) for each gear stage and a corresponding gear (24,26) on a driven shaft (14) to mesh with it. The gears of different stages have different diameters, where at least one gear slides axially on a shaft to change gears. A larger-diameter gear (18,26) on at least one shaft has inner teeth (20,28), which correspond to outer teeth (22,30) of a smaller gear (16,24) on the same shaft. The gear with the larger outer diameter can slide onto the gear with the smaller diameter.
