[origin: EP1127818A2] The sheet separation device has a low pressure air jet device (3.1,3.2) positioned adjacent a reduced pressure sheet transport unit with a sheet curvature device, seizing the separated top sheet from a sheet stack (S) and feeding it to a processing station. The low pressure air jet device has an air jet (31) aligned with the center line of the sheet stack and the sheet transport path and several air jets (32) on either side of the center line, providing jets of differing pressure, direction and diameter, cooperating with additional jets (D1,D1'; D2,D2') supplied from a high pressure source, for separating the uppermost sheet and retaining the underlying sheet.
