Abstract (en)

[origin: DE19854045A1] The invention relates to a method and a device for rolling sheets and strips onto a rolling stand. The upper and lower working rolls, optionally in pairs with their designated back up rolls, can be pivoted about a common vertical axis intersecting the longitudinal centres of the rolls, out of their common vertical plane and into positions in which the vertical planes that run through the roll axes of the working rolls or optionally, the working rolls and the back up rolls, cross at a predetermined angle, by horizontally displacing the inserts supporting each roll inside the stand windows. Defects in the course of the sheet or strip being rolled can be corrected by pivoting the upper and lower working rolls, optionally in pairs with their designated back up rolls, about different angles respectively, according to the size of the detected deviation of the strip from the set rolling direction, in relation to the common starting planes intersecting the roll axes.
