[origin: WO0118339A1] The invention relates to an automatic door or window system that comprises a sliding door drive (2) and two sliding panels (1) that are driven in opposite directions. A plurality of electrical functional units and the drive unit (31) are arranged along the sliding rail (72) of the drive. The sliding panel (1) is movably guided in the sliding rail (72) by means of rollers. The aim of the invention is to provide automatic door or window systems that are versatile and compact in design. To this end, the sliding rail (72) comprises a bus unit (4) that transmits data and/or signals between the electrical functional units and/or between the electrical functional units and the drive unit (31).
