[origin: DE19757706A1] The invention relates to an interferometric method which makes it possible to determine a modification in the optical density of an adsorbate layer in microtitre plates. The method is based on the integration of laterally structured interference layers into the base of a biofunctionialized microtitre plate. The optical reflection-interference of the plate is imaged and evaluated by means of image processing. The average quadratic difference of standardized intensities is used to determine a modification in the optical density of the adsorbate. The method is highly sensitive, quantitative, economical and robust with respect to external perturbations. One of the substantial advantages is that the ligands do not need to be marked.
