The ceramic block has a U-shape with two parallel arms and a connecting cross arm. The parallel arms (2, 3) form an inside and outside wall (5, 4) and the cross arm (6) forms a side wall (7). The side wall and inside wall each have a recess (8,9) with at least the width of the free end (12) of the parallel arm (2) forming the outside wall which is longer than the arm forming the inside wall. The width of the recesses of the side wall and inside wall can be equal to or slightly larger than the width of the free end of the parallel arm forming the outside wall.

Ein keramischer Formstein, insbesondere Brennwagenrandstein, der im wesentlichen eine U-Form mit zwei Parallelschenkeln und einem diese verbindenden Querschenkel aufweist, ist erfindungsgemäß dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß die Parallelschenkel (2,3) eine Innen- (5) und eine Außenwandung (4) und der Querschenkel (6) eine Seitenwandung (7) ausbilden und die Seitenwandung (7) und die Innenwandung (5) je eine Ausnehmung (8,9) von zumindest der Breite (11) des freien Endes (12) des die Außenwandung (4) bildenden Parallelschenkels (2) aufweisen, wobei der die Außenwandung (4) bildende Parallelschenkel (2) länger als der die Innenwandung (5) bildende Parallelschenkel (3) ist. Die Erfindung betrifft auch einen Brennwagen mit Seitenwänden aus derartigen Formsteinen bzw. eine aus solchen Formsteinen gebildete Verschalung. <IMAGE>
