[origin: WO0030624A2] The invention relates to the use of benzoylguanidines of formula (I) wherein R<1> is A; R<2> is Het, CnFmH2n+1-mOp, R<4>, OR<4>, OH, benzyl, CN, Hal, SOq-R<5>, Ph, O-Ph, O-Het, NH-Het, NH2, NHA, NA2 or NH-Ph; R<3> is SO2A'; R<4> is a straight-chain or branched alkyl radical having 1 to 8 C atoms or cycloalkyl having 3 to 8 C atoms which can be unsubstituted or mono-, di- or trisubstituted by A; R<5> is A or Ph; A, A' in each case independently of one another are alkyl having 1 to 6 C atoms; Het is a mono- or bicyclic saturated, unsaturated or aromatic heterocycle having from 1 to 4 N, O and/or S atoms, which can be substituted once, twice or three times by Hal, CF3, A, CN, NO2, NH2 and/or carbonyl oxygen; Hal is F, Cl, Br or I; Ph is unsubstituted phenyl or substituted once, twice or three times by A, OA, Hal, CF3, NH2, NHA or NA2; m is 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, but at most 2n+1; n is 1, 2 or 3; p is 0 or 1; q is 0, 1 or 2, and/or their physiologically acceptable salts and solvates for the production of a medicament for the treatment of non-insulin-dependent diabetes mellitus.
