Abstract (en)

[origin: WO0031350A1] To stabilize slopes and embankments support walls are used which consist of rectangular elements comprising a base element (2), a front element (3) and a reinforcement (5) which covers the base element or is arranged behind the front element (3). The reinforcement (5) serves as soil reinforcement (6) when it rests on the base element (2) and as rear anchorage (8) above the filler soil (7). The part of the reinforcement situated behind the front element can be used to establish plant growth. So far the base and front elements have been configured as a single piece from a wire steel mesh and transported to the building site in a bent state. A disadvantage of this is that the elements are almost impossible to store and difficult and bulky to transport and that it is very difficult for labourers to position each element correctly on the building site. All of the above problems are eliminated if the two elements are made not of a single piece but of two separately produced steel wire meshes which are joined in an articulated manner by joint elements (9).
