[origin: DE19942503A1] The invention relates to an air filter for filtering induced air for internal combustion engines. Said air filter comprises a filter housing (10) which has an air inlet and outlet (11, 12) and at least one water run-off (18), said water run-off being located on the housing floor (101); and a replaceable filter mat (13) which is situated in the filter housing (10) between the air inlet and the air outlet (11, 12). According to the invention, a water separator (19) is located in the filter housing (10), upstream of the filter mat (13), and means for forming a water level (23) in the water run-off (18) at a height that will compensate the negative pressure acting on said water run-off in the filter housing (10) are provided in the at least one water run-off (18). This ensures that water particles are separated from the induced air and that the water that is separated is optimally discharged from the filter housing (10).
