Abstract (en)
[origin: EP1132161A1] Process for continuously casting thin slabs comprises: providing the casting thread (4) with a bulge (5) before the region of soft reduction stage (III) by adjusting the jaw (W) of the segments (2.1 - 2.n) as a result of the ferrostatic inner pressure; and partially or completely pushing back the bulge to the thread thickness in the segment feed of the soft reduction stage. Preferred Features: The jaw width of at least one segment is adjusted to a size larger than the outlet thickness of the mold (1) before the soft reduction stage.
