[origin: WO0026581A1] The invention relates to a system for providing hot water which comprises a gas-operated heat generator (1) and a hot water reservoir (2). The heat generator is coupled with the hot water reservoir and heats the reservoir water to a preset temperature. A hot water delivery line (3, 4) is guided from the reservoir (2) via the heat generator (1) to hot water connections. The reservoir water can be subsequently heated in the heat generator in order to attain a higher water temperature. A thermostatically controlled mixing device (7) is installed between the heat generator and at least one part of the water connections. Said mixing device limits the maximum hot water temperature at the water connection. The invention incorporates the structural and operational advantages of combined hot water and heating installations and of gas-operated water heaters with hot water reservoirs, and significantly reduces the size of wall-hanging heat generators.
