From the position of the fuel gas control valve (6) actuator determining flow to the process, also taking into account as appropriate, the following influences:- compressor suction, compressor outlet pressure, compressor suction temperature and process pressure, a control matrix is determined and stored in the machine controller. On rapid transient change in the operating condition, the required settings are determined directly for the following:- pumping limitation valve (13), bypass valve (8), suction pressure control valve (10) and the adjustment actuator (22) for the compressor inlet blades (21). Signals corresponding to the required settings, are sent to the:- pumping limitation valve (13), suction pressure controller (11), final pressure controller (20) and bypass controller (9).

Zum Schutz eines Turbokompressors (3) mit einem nachgeschalteten Prozess vor einem Betrieb im instabilen Arbeitsbereich wird ein Maschinenregler verwendet, der neben einem Pumpgrenzregler (15) gegebenenfalls einen Saugdruckregler (11), einen Enddruckregler (20) und einen Bypassregler (9) enthält. Aus der Stellung eines den Durchfluss zum Prozess bestimmenden Stellorgans (Brenngasregelventil 6) wird unter Berücksichtigung gegebenenfalls weiterer Einflussgrößen wie Kompressoransaugdruck und Kompressoraustrittsdruck und Kompressoransaugtemperatur sowie dem Prozessdruck eine Steuermatrix ermittelt. Anhand der Steuermatrix wird bei einer schnellen transienten Arbeitspunktänderung die erforderliche Position des Pumpgrenzregelventils (13) sowie des Bypassventils (8), des Saugdruckregelventils (10) und des Stellantriebes (22) für die Kompressoreintrittsschaufeln (21) direkt ermittelt, und diese Steuergröße wird dem Pumpgrenzregelventil (13), dem Saugdruckregler (11), dem Enddruckregler (20) und dem Bypassregler (9) direkt als Stellgröße aufgeprägt. <IMAGE>
