The ends are contacted by a flat heated surface. The surface is suddenly cooled, before separating it from the ends. An Independent claim is included for the corresponding method of carrying out the process.

Zum Verschmelzen der axialen Enden von gebündelten Fasern aus thermoplastischem Kunststoff durch Einwirkung von Hitze, insbesondere zur Herstellung von Faserbüscheln für Bürsten, werden die Faserenden mit einer erhitzten Fläche in Berührung gebracht. Diese Fläche wird dann plötzlich abgekühlt. Die Faserenden werden erst nach erfolgter Abkühlung der Fläche von dieser getrennt. Die Fläche wird durch elektrischen Stromfluß erhitzt und durch ein strömendes Kühlmedium abgekühlt. <IMAGE>
