The thread brake comprises a support (1), and two or more flexible elements (3,4) mounted on support to form a thread gap (G) for passing a thread. A gap width control is operatively connected to flexible element. The gap width control comprises a linear motor having a controllable linearly movable member (9), positioned to influence the flexible element for adjusting gap width and respective brake force. The linear motor further has a stator (8) fixed in position. The linear motor is a linearly stepping electric motor or a linear electric servo-motor. The controllable linearly movable member is an armature or a pneumatic piston. The stator is a linear elongated structural component or a curved structural component having a circular shape configuration of a sector portion.

Die Erfindung betrifft eine Fadenbremse, insbesondere eine Schussfadenbremse für Webmaschinen, umfassend zwei federnd gegeneinander liegende und einen Schussfaden (6) zwischen sich aufnehmende lamellenartige Teile (3,4), wobei auf wenigstens eines der Teile ein steuerbares Mittel einwirkt, das die Lage wenigstens eines der Teile gegenüber dem anderen Teil verstellt. Eine derartige Fadenbremse soll dahingehend weitergebildet werden, dass insbesondere bei einer Mehrfachanordnung eine geringe Baugröße und ein reaktionsschnelles und präzises Arbeiten erzielt werden kann. Erfindungsgemäß wird dies dadurch erreicht, dass das steuerbare Mittel der Läufer (9) eines Linearmotors ist. <IMAGE>
