Abstract (en)
[origin: EP1136605A2] The thread brake comprises a support (1), and two or more flexible elements (3,4) mounted on support to form a thread gap (G) for passing a thread. A gap width control is operatively connected to flexible element. The gap width control comprises a linear motor having a controllable linearly movable member (9), positioned to influence the flexible element for adjusting gap width and respective brake force. The linear motor further has a stator (8) fixed in position. The linear motor is a linearly stepping electric motor or a linear electric servo-motor. The controllable linearly movable member is an armature or a pneumatic piston. The stator is a linear elongated structural component or a curved structural component having a circular shape configuration of a sector portion.
