[origin: EP1136750A2] The headlamp has a light source, a reflector a lens and a two element shade arrangement between the reflector and lens with at least one height adjustable shade element. First and second shades (1,2) have upper edge profiles (1a,1b;2a,2b) for producing first and second light distribution patterns and can each adopt two defined positions. Each has a position in which significant areas are above the edge of the other shade.
