Abstract (en)

[origin: DE19856521A1] The invention relates to an air duct, especially for fitting in the air intake system of an internal combustion engine. In order to improve the acoustic behavior, flow obstacles, preferably wire-shaped flow obstacles, are accommodated in the vicinity of the tube wall (21). Said obstacles may, for instance, consist of wire strings (29). The flow obstacles are capable of reducing the acoustic behavior in the duct at a low flow resistance since the center part of the cross-section remains unaffected by the flow obstacles. The flow obstacles may advantageously be fitted in the exhaust air area of flaps in order to prevent a whistling from being produced when the flaps are slightly open. In order to simplify production, the flow obstacles are provided in the area of a flanged joint in the air intake system.
