Abstract (en)
[origin: FR2786116A1] Processing of nuclear fuel powder in an oxide form, e.g. UO2, comprises passing the powder through a reduction unit, retaining the coarse particles above a predetermined or critical size and subjecting to continuous reduction before mixing with the flow of fine particles. An Independent claim is also included for the apparatus for processing nuclear fuel, in which a particle reduction unit (24) incorporates a coarse particle retainer (44) with outlets (86) which allow the particles to pass through once they have been reduced below the critical size by a rotary conveyor unit (52) with cutters (58B) passing across grinder blades.
