[origin: EP1138203A2] Combination of at least one aldehyde and at least one alkyl polyethylene glycol ether surfactant having 2-8 ethylene oxide (EO) units is new. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a microbicidal concentrate (I) comprising an aqueous solution containing 0.1-30 wt.% of at least one saturated aliphatic mono- and dialdehyde having up to 8 carbon atoms and 0.1-30 wt.% of at least one nonionic surfactant of formula (II); and (2) a solution for disinfecting or sterilizing nonliving surfaces, comprising 0.1-10 vol.% (I) in water or aqueous alcohol. R(OCH2CH2)kOH (II) k = 2-8; R = 6-10C optionally saturated alkyl or 10-18C phenylalkyl.
