[origin: EP1138788A1] Tanned leather with a protective finish that covers the protein fiber surface and underlying collagen fiber network while leaving the pores open. An Independent claim is also included for a finishing process for tanned leather, comprising subjecting the leather to a plasma treatment in which an atomized matrix material carried by the plasma jet is projected onto and into the leather at high energy in a reactor at atmospheric pressure.
