[origin: EP1138812A2] The temperature of the bobbin track (3) of a braiding machine is measured continuously and the supply of lubricant is metered accordingly. The quantity of lubricant is kept to the minimum that keeps track wear within prescribed limits. An Independent claim is also included for a braiding machine fitted with a track temperature sensor (41) and other sensors, e.g. in the drive motor, the cooling fan motor, that are linked to a central computer. The computer provides a signal to control the rate of lubricant supply. Preferred Features: Each lubrication point (16) is fitted with a metering unit (24) connected to a central lubricant pump. The temperature sensor (41) can be resistance thermometer connected through carbon brushes and slip rings to the rotating track. Alternatively an electronic sensor can be connected by radio transmission.
