Abstract (en)

[origin: EP1138821A2] A controlled separator (6) reduces forces of adhesion between fibrous web (1) and drying screen (5) An Independent claim is included for the corresponding method. The separator(s) are only employed in web transfer and/or tearing-off. Preferred features: The separator is located in the wrapped region of a drying cylinder (3) and/or shortly before it. A separator is located after the wrapped region of a drying cylinder. It is on the opposite side of the drying screen from that of the web. The separator is an air nozzle (7), blowing compressed air through the screen, onto the web. The separator is an air guidance blade (8). This is a flexible transverse blade at least partially blocking the entrained air boundary layer from the drying screen, and forcing it through the screen, toward the web. A scraper (11) after the wrapped region of the drying cylinder, removes the web. The separator is part of an air duct (9) between drying cylinder and guide roller (4). In normal operation this assures more reliable guidance of the web on the drying screen. Further nozzle implementations and locations are described. In the first drying assembly there are at most three, preferably two and especially only one drying cylinder (3).
