Each layer to be couched, has on one side a layer (A, B) containing a smaller quantity of fine material. Layers are supplied to the couching zone (24) such that the sides with smaller content of fine material content, come into contact. The layers are made by gap formers (16, 18). Preferred features: The gap former(s) include a forming roller (14). The sheet is made with the layer of higher fine solids content on the forming side. Gap formers (16, 18) produce the layers (A, B). The first layer (A) is supplied to the couching zone (24) through the gap separating the upper screen (20) from the lower screen (22), at the first gap former (16). In this zone, the layers (A, B) are couched together on their sides of smaller fine material content. Direction of rotation of the forming roller (14) of the second former (18) is opposed to that of the first (16). The second layer (B) is reversed on a couching roller (26) in the region of the couching zone. Further variants based on the foregoing principles are described.

In einer Maschine zur Herstellung einer mehrlagigen Faserstoffbahn, insbesondere einer Papier- oder Kartonbahn, bei der die durch einen jeweiligen Former gebildeten Lagen miteinander vergautscht werden, sind wenigstens zwei miteinander zu vergautschende, auf einer Seite jeweils einen geringeren Feinstoffgehalt aufweisende Lagen der betreffenden Gautschzone so zugeführt, daß sie mit ihren Seiten geringeren Feinstoffgehalts miteinander in Kontakt kommen. Dabei ist zumindest eine dieser beiden Lagen durch ein Gapformer erzeugt. <IMAGE>
