[origin: EP0816597A1] The handle operates lift-bar (22), in a door hand-hole, which has two interconnected (68) supports (64, 66) pivoted on a horizontal spindle (62), mounted (60) in the door and restrained by return spring (70,72). The U-shaped intermediate lever (74), also rotatable on this spindle, operates the lock linkage (30). Its movement, relative to the lift-bar, is controlled by a horizontal rod (84), passing through slots (88) in the lever legs (76) and a shaped aperture (92) in one lift-bar support (64). These guides, in conjunction with a motorised cam (80) mounted on the spindle, determine whether the rod transmits the release action to the lock. A short-range radio control unit, switched on by the lift-bar and interacting with a passive identification unit eg. on the authorised user's wrist, positions the cam appropriately.
