Abstract (en)

[origin: DE19859503A1] The present invention relates to an orthodontic arch (12) comprising at least one special loop (22) in the form of a spring hook. Said spring hook makes it possible to effect intrusion and corporal retraction of the front teeth, especially in the upper jaw, in a faster, more gentle and better controlled manner in comparison with conventional arches and methods. By additionally attaching rubber bands, springs or ligatures (24), all disadvantages of conventional constructions can be eliminated or minimized by means of an adjustable lever action effect due to the fact that the inventive arch-spring construction enables dynamic undulating movement of the front teeth adapted to biological processes during an activation procedure as opposed to conventional rigid mechanisms. Especially medical or biological requirements and aspects are fulfilled by the inventive arch. The inventive arch enables faster movement and greatly reduces damages and pain. In addition, considerable costs are lowered by reducing the number of arches and by saving time.
