Abstract (en)
[origin: DE19860399A1] The invention relates to the control device for a burner. Said control device comprises two control units (C1, C2) with which one or two valves (V1, V2) which are arranged in series to each other in a path of the burner medium are controlled to open and close said path. Said control units further detect characteristic data indicating the active state and the closed state of the valves (V1, V2) and allow additional control functions for the operation of the burner. The aim of the invention is to reduce the amount of elements needed for circuitry and control devices while maintaining a high operating safety. To this end, the functions are distinguished according to safety-relevant functions among which are at least the control of the valve(s) for establishing the closed state and the detection of the characteristic data for the closed state, and according to additional functions, such as the detection of a request for the generation of heat and an ignition of the burner. The safety-relevant functions are allocated to the two control units (C1, C2) while only subsets of the additional functions are allocated to the two control units (C1, C2).
