Abstract (en)

[origin: DE19900042A1] The invention relates to a centrifugal dehydrator for separating and dehydrating granulates out of a suspension, in which a rotor which is vertically arranged in an outer housing for collecting liquid and which is equipped with delivery blades is coaxially enclosed by a hollow body comprised of sieve elements. The suspension comprised of granulates and of liquid is continuously fed to the lower area of the chamber situated between the hollow body and the rotor. The granulates are transported upward by the delivery blades, said blades rotating with the rotor, while being buffeted and dried between the delivery blades and the sieves. The dried granulates are yielded on the upper end of the rotor. The liquid separated out of the granulates passes through the basket and flows out of the drain duct of the outer housing. According to the inventive centrifugal dehydrator, the hollow body which encloses the rotor (1, 28) that is equipped with the delivery blades (8, 13, 12, 27) consists of sieve elements (15) only in the lower area or does not consist of any sieve elements, rather it is comprised of a non-perforated casing (21, 29) on whose inner wall the separated liquid flows downward in a spiral-like manner. An outer housing (17) is thus not required in the area of the non-perforated casing.
