[origin: EP1142711A1] The controller for the drying apparatus of the printer (1) operated such that the mode of operation of the drying apparatus (3,4,5) is controlled by control signals. At least one signal of a parameter characteristic of the printing process is supplied to the controller (7). In response, the controller generates signals (8,9,10) which change the manner of operation of the drying apparatus in a predetermined way. The signals fed to the controlled may be e.g. setting values of the amount of color in the various printing and coating devices of the printer and/or on the amount of color etc. to be dispensed.
