Abstract (en)

[origin: FR2781324A1] A server transmits encrypted data from the encryption unit (12) controlled by a managing circuit (11) passing the data to the transmitter (13). A satellite (2) re-transmitted the data which is detected by one of many receivers (3) operated by subscribers (and non-subscribers). The receiver is connected to a personal computer, PC (35), using a bi-directional link (34) and including a reader (36) for diskettes (37) containing decryption information. The receiver also incorporates electronic circuits (31) which accepts an electronic card with microchip (purchased by the subscriber) to modify decryption to gain access to the original data. The cycle times for modification takes typically 10 seconds. The packet signals are re-assembled based on the updated decryption information to provide usable signals.
