Abstract (en)
[origin: EP1149952A2] A sound absorbing wall is constructed by stacking horizontal wooden beams (12) stabilised by vertical supports. The joining faces of the beams are contoured to key into each other and to form acoustic openings (18) which are shaped to absorb sound through multiple internal reflections. The openings are tulip shaped in cross section and are formed between two adjacent beams. They extend up to 70 percent of the thickness of the beams and can be angled to align with the sound source.
