Abstract (en)

[origin: DE19906035A1] The invention relates to a method for switching several electric circuits, especially electric circuits for lighting purposes in a vehicle, wherein several positions of an actuation element are binarily coded, the binary codification is fed to a logic and the logic controls switching of the electric circuits. The invention also relates to a corresponding switch having an actuation element and a switching device enabling several switching modes depending on the position of the actuation element, wherein the switching device is comprised of several switching elements, each having two switching modes so that binary codification of the switching modes of all switching elements depends upon the position of the actuation element in order to switch the electric circuit by means of a logic.
