Abstract (en)
[origin: EP1152065A2] Production of a high strength austenitic steel comprises rolling or forging the steel at deformation temperatures below the solution annealing temperature (1000-1100 degrees C); and producing a very fine non-recrystallizable structure by rapidly cooling in air and/or water. Preferred Features: The steel has an offset yield stress of 300-800 N/mm<2> and a tensile strength of 600-1000 N/mm<2> at breaking elongations of 40-20 %.
