[origin: WO0049788A1] The aim of the invention is to improve the directional characteristic of miniaturised telephone handsets. The microphone (2) is provided with a unidirectional directional characteristic and is arranged on the front side of the telephone handset (1) in such a way that the main sound input (3) of the microphone (2) terminates on the same level as the lower side pertaining to said telephone handset and that the rear compensating opening of the microphone terminates on the same level as the front side pertaining to the telephone handset. The main sound entrance is damped whereas the compensating opening is not.
