[origin: EP1153864A1] The device for removing individual sheets of material from a stack (2) comprises two suction devices (3, 4) at the bases of which swivelling arms (13, 14) fitted with suction cups (15) are mounted. The suction cups on one device are applied to the top of the upper sheet and it is lifted. The other device is lowered and its arm is swivelled under this sheet. It is then lowered again so that it picks up the next sheet while still supporting the upper sheet. The arm on the other device is then swivelled to support the lower sheet. The process is repeated as the individual upper sheets are removed. Independent claims are included for: (a) a storage system for sheet material fitted with the device; and (b) a method for removing individual sheets from a stack using the device.
